Level-by-Level Overview
Level 1 – Beginner: Unrated to 200 ELO
Friendly, interactive lessons for both children and adult beginners.
Level 2 – Club Player: 200 to 600 ELO
Mating in 1 move (few pieces), spotting unprotected pieces, basic checkmates with major pieces, chess notation, Scholar’s Mate and defense.
Level 3 – Club Player: 600 to 1000 ELO
Mating in 1 (many pieces), basic king + queen or rook checkmates, defending pieces, “rule of the square” in pawn endings, double attack, fork, pin, basic opening principles.
Level 4 – Intermediate: 1000 to 1200 ELO
Discovered check, removing the defender, spotting threats, defending against mate, basic king + pawn vs king endings, passed pawns, names and moves of some openings.
Level 5 – Intermediate: 1200 to 1400 ELO
Deflection, decoy, interference, forced mates in 2, rook + pawn vs rook principles, open lines and diagonals, center control, names and moves of all main openings.
Level 6 – Advanced: 1400 to 1600 ELO
Medium-difficulty decoy/interference/deflection, complex mates in 2, defensive play, good/bad pieces, strong/weak squares, key pawn and rook endings, opening fundamentals.
Level 7 – Advanced: 1600 to 1800 ELO
Complex combinations, forced mates in 3–4, bishop endings, isolated and hanging pawns, typical pawn structures, opening theory for chosen repertoires.
Level 8 – Expert: 1800 to 2000 ELO
Multi-move combinations, advanced strategy, middlegame planning, in-depth opening/endgame knowledge, positional evaluation and planning.
Level 9 – Expert: 2000 to 2200 ELO
Middlegame mastery, recognizing opponent’s plans, creating counterplans, prevention, maneuvering across all game stages.
Level 10 – Master: 2200+ ELO
Complete mastery of all stages, modern opening theory, deep positional and tactical planning, high-level endgame expertise.
